BASIC MOUNTAINEERING COURSE

OVERVIEW DETAILS

This is a intensive mountaineering course wihch provides complete instruction in all basic knowledge, techniques and who is involved in this course will learn to apply knowledge efficiently in all conditions. This Course is designed to develop and improve skills in people with or without mountaineering experiences, generally with small groups and treated according to the individual interest and need. EAT will provide you courses with professional training specialist instruction, personalized service and all the possible flexibility. 
 
The CURRICULUM includes:
  • Planning and leadership management.
  • Performance and physiology at high altitude.
  • Glaciology & nivology.
  • Risk management in mountaineering.
  • Equipment care & proper management.
  • Basic mountaineering knots.
  • Cramponing & Ice Axe techniques.
  • Glacier travel & route finding.
  • Self & team arrest techniques.
  • Anchors placement in Snow & Ice.
  • Top rope & belaying management.
  • Crevasse rescue system (simple / double pulley system).
PREREQUISITE:
 
This is a beginner course and it is not necessary to have previous experience.
 

Mt. Vallunaraju – Cordillera Blanca (6 Days / 5 Nights)

 
Day 1
Approximation walk to moraine camp (3h/4,430m – 4,950m).
Instruction includes:
  • Equipment care & proper management.
Day 2
Ascent to the glacier of Mt. Vallunaraju (8h/5,050m).
Instruction includes:
  • Basic mountaineering knots.
  • Cramponing & Ice Axe techniques.
  • Planning and leadership management.
Day 3
Ascent to the glacier of Mt. Vallunaraju (8h/5,150m).
Instruction includes:
  • Glacier travel & route finding.
  • Self & team arrest techniques.
  • Performance and physiology at high altitude.
Day 4
Ascent to the glacier of Mt. Vallunaraju (8h/5,200m).
Instruction includes:
  • Anchors placement in Snow & Ice.
  • Top rope & belaying management.
  • Ice climbing techniques.
  • Glaciology & nivology.
Day 5
Ascent to the glacier of Mt. Vallunaraju (8h/5,200m).
Instruction includes:
  • Anchors placement in Snow.
  • Crevasse rescue system (simple / double pulley system).
  • Risk management in mountaineering.
Day 6
Climbing to Vallunaraju summit practicing everything learned in the Course (10h/5,686m). Last day of program and return to Huaraz.
 
 

Mt. Yanapaccha – Cordillera Blanca (6 Days / 5 Nights)

 
Day 1
Approximation walk to moraine camp (3h/4,700m – 4,880m).
Instruction includes:
  • Equipment care & proper management.
Day 2
Ascent to the glacier of Mt. Yanapaccha (8h/4,970m).
Instruction includes:
  • Basic mountaineering knots.
  • Cramponing & Ice Axe techniques.
  • Planning and leadership management.
Day 3
Ascent to the glacier of Mt. Yanapaccha (8h/5,150m).
Instruction includes:
  • Glacier travel & route finding.
  • Self & team arrest techniques.
  • Performance and physiology at high altitude.
Day 4
Ascent to the glacier of Mt. Yanapaccha (8h/5,200m).
Instruction includes:
  • Anchors placement in Snow & Ice.
  • Top rope & belaying management.
  • Ice climbing techniques.
  • Glaciology & nivology.
Day 5
Ascent to the glacier of Mt. Yanapaccha (8h/5,200m).
Instruction includes:
  • Anchors placement in Snow.
